Information and Referral

MCLD acts as a clearinghouse collecting and providing legal information for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing persons regarding laws, ordinances, regulations, and rules in all Midwestern states which impact deaf or hard-of-hearing persons. MCLD maintains a database of attorneys in each geographical region and in each legal practice area who have agreed to provide legal services to deaf and hard-of-hearing persons. This database is used to provide information and referral to deaf and hard-of-hearing persons. MCLD also identifies geographical regions as well as legal practice areas where there is a lack of attorneys serving deaf and hard-of-hearing persons. MCLD will recruit attorneys in those regions and practice areas to represent deaf and hard-of-hearing persons.
