In Venezuela, the community kitchens of Alimenta La Solidaridad have not stopped because of the COVID-19 crisis. The complex humanitarian emergency has put hundreds of thousands of families in a food insecurity situation. Our organization provides lunch for 14,400 children every day. The continuity of our work is possible thanks to a network of community leaders and volunteers across 14 states in Venezuela, that have implemented the necessary preventive measures.
Alimenta La Solidaridad is part of a broader movement called Convive, which also includes Caracas Mi Convive and Sustento. The union of these three initiatives allows us to have an integral intervention, not only strengthening the capacities of women of the most vulnerable communities but also preventing violence and giving the people we work with new opportunities as entrepreneurs.
