How to Organise International Events and Convenings

A guidance note from local actors on designing events on locally-led development, with local actors, by local actors, and for local actors.

Since November 2023, over 1800 Majority World actors and community-based organizations have come together in one voice to lay out what inclusion would look like for convenings on locally-led development.

INGOs and funders have also committed to improving practices, actively listening, and standing in solidarity. To best do so, they have asked for concrete recommendations for implementing the principles in our letter.

In response to this call, The Movement for Community-led Development (MCLD), CIVICUS and Peace Direct collaborated with the Majority World signatories of the original letter to co-create a guidance document.

This document captures the learning from these consultations as recommendations that all convenors and funders should consider while planning events in general, particularly those on locally-led development.

The guidance document will be translated into Arabic, French, and Spanish in the coming weeks.
