MCLD’s October global call focused on inclusive leadership.

Community-Led Development is instrinsically linked to diversity and inclusion, two core values of our Movement. It is important to recognize and understand the structural inequealities that create different situations of oppression and privilege for diferente individuals and groups if we want to make sure, as communities, that we are marching together, not leaving anyone behind.

After an introduction from Sylvia Hernandez Mortera (Girls Not Brides) and Luana Esquenazi (MCLD), we heard from three organizations in Latin America:

  • Danha Alvarado, Las Niñas Lideran (Guatemala)
  • Luisa Castro, Girl Up (Mexico)
  • Guadalupe Bargiela, Patria Diversa (Argentina)

This was MCLD’s first call hosted in Spanish, with translation in English, French, and ASL. We are excited about this crucial step in our efforts to make our calls more inclusive and participatory for members from all regions.
