Asia Region: The First Regional Conversation

In November 2025, MCLD’s Asia region held its first regional meeting, bringing together 12 member organisations from four countries. The conversation reflected the growing strength of the movement in the region, which now includes 17 organisations across five countries (Bangladesh, Syria, Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka) united by shared values and a common code of conduct.

Members focused on how the regional space could be used meaningfully in its early stages. There was strong agreement that it should function as a space for co-learning and sharing how community-led development is practiced, learning from successes and challenges across contexts, and building relationships before moving toward collective action. The meeting concluded with plans for regular, flexible regional calls shaped by shared questions and offline reflection, laying the foundation for a regional community of practice grounded in trust, curiosity, and solidarity.
