Rwanda

As of June 2020, the Rwanda network for Community-led Development is currently in formation. The country of Rwanda has a growing number of local organizations and country offices of international NGOs that are exploring the value and potential of a chapter in their country. The government of Rwanda has many strong and far reaching programs, including a focus on who is most vulnerable.

The potential for a community-led development forum proposes to engage with the government to ensure government efforts to reach communities most in need are vibrant and timely–which is especially critical in a rapidly-changing COVID world. The Forum also envisions creating and testing innovations in community-led development which can help inform government and other stakeholders as to how to foster sustainable development that enables dignity, voice, and agency.

MCLD members in Rwanda are currently most motivated about identifying the gaps that challenge the implementation of community-led development.
