MCLD began in the US among US-based INGO who shared a strong belief in Community-led Development. As MCLD grew, MCLD-US has a first priority to strengthen its sister National Associations and fund the Global Secretariat.

In addition, MCLD-US advocates on behalf of all of MCLD at international conferences of the United Nations, World Bank and other US-based international organizations.

With the adoption of the new Global Strategic Plan, MCLD-US will create its own implementation plan on the agree pillars of CLD policy, practice, self-reliance and solidarity.
