About The Youth Task Force
MCLD’s Youth Task Force launched in 2023 to better integrate youth perspectives into our work. It is one of many ways that MCLD is facilitating knowledge sharing across cultures, countries, and communities to shape the next generation of leaders who will uphold justice and equity.
The Task Force has members from seven countries (Malawi, Zambia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Guatemala, and El Salvador) working to amplify youth voices in shaping policies and practices that advance community-led approaches.
Current Initiatives
In 2025, MCLD launched the Youth Chess Fellowship, a one-year fellowship that comprises chess training for youth from Malawi and culminates in a tournament at the end of the year. By participating in the fellowship, 12 youth from Malawi are strengthening their connections, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and leadership capabilities.
