As the world looks ahead to COP31, MCLD brought together members from across the globe for an inspiring conversation showcasing the power of community-led climate action. Building on our May 2026 introduction to COP31, this event highlighted how local communities are already driving meaningful solutions to the climate crisis.
Organized by MCLD members in Latin America and the Caribbean, for members around the world, the event featured practical climate efforts from Brazil, Cameroon, Colombia, Kenya, Malawi, and Sri Lanka. Participants shared innovative approaches to reforestation, river restoration, environmental education for children, and other locally driven initiatives that are strengthening communities while protecting the planet.
More than a showcase of successful projects, the conversation created space for members to exchange ideas, learn from one another’s experiences, and build momentum toward COP31. The event underscored a powerful message: when communities lead, climate action becomes more inclusive, resilient, and transformative.
We will continue to build momentum with a Day of Action on August 29th, 2026. If you would like to join this global campaign, express your interest here.
