Current Initiatives
Reimagining Civil Society
Fighting shrinking civic space through narrative change while rethinking the role and structures in civil society. We do this by addressing misinformation, giving a platform to champions, and advocating to people, civil society and funders.
How to Organize Inclusive Events
In 2024, alongside Peace Direct and CIVICUS, MCLD facilitated discussions among Majority World members and partners on how to make these decisions. The resulting Guidance Document on Locally-led Events and Convenings offers recommendations for international conveners.
This guidance document builds on the letter that Majority World actors issued in November 2023. This letter was met with widespread support, and the 20+ conveners, INGOs, and funders who signed onto it requested more guidance on how to adhere to the principles of the letter. The new guidance document outlines specific actions before, during, and after convenings that organizations can take to be more inclusive to local and community-based organizations.

Preventing Election Violence in Nigeria
30 organizations in the MCLD Association in Nigeria, known as Strategy Action for Community Development – SACD-Nigeria, conducted a successful “Say No to Violence” awareness campaign across 13 states of the country, reaching 1 million people directly and 10 million through social media and the radio.
The Malawi Radio Show
MCLD Malawi organized a series of call-in radio programs during the early COVID-19 pandemic to provide accurate information on critical topics related to the vaccine.
Benin Superfoods Campaign
CLD Benin envisions transformed food systems–from farm to fork. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Association created posters and an information campaign about good nutrition and local superfoods.
