MCLD started in Africa and continues to be vibrant across the continent with National Associations in 17 countries. Our members and Associations work on diverse interconnected themes from devolution and food security to climate justice, health, gender equity and youth activism.

Together we have addressed vaccine hesitancy in Malawi, reduced election violence in Nigeria and Sierra Leone, promoted local super foods in Uganda, adopted climate resilient agriculture techniques in Liberia, addressed childhood malnutrition in Uganda and promoted decentralization and participatory governance in Kenya, Ethiopia and Togo.
