Togo

MCLD was launched in Togo on April 30, 2019. The launch was timely, as the country held its first elections of Commune Councils in late June.

DPC Togo began holding meetings in 2020. The following year, we were invited to Benin, which marked a pivotal moment in our development. By 2022, we held our second general meeting and received our first funding for International Youth Day. We continued to engage other CSOs and local communities to spread MCLD’s values.

In 2024, MCLD in Togo focused on advocacy efforts around the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence. We continued this in 2025 with our celebrations around International Youth Day. Looking ahead, MCLD Togo plans to further enhance its community impact and expand its network of partnerships.

The meeting followed consultations with the Ministry of Community Development, which has facilitated the formations of more than 3,000 village development committees.
