Malawi Coordinator

Aubrey Farooq Mbewe serves as the National Coordinator of the Malawi National Association, bringing ten years of diverse and progressive experience in community development, nutrition, livelihoods, and humanitarian programming. Aubrey holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Community Development and a Diploma in Food, Nutrition,
and Livelihoods, both of which have profoundly shaped his commitment to advancing sustainable, inclusive, and community-driven development approaches. Aubrey works with CARE International as a Nutrition and Health Field Officer and has previously worked with Youth in Missions Organization, Bio Energy Resources Limited, DAPP, Welthungerhilfe, Feed the Children, The Hunger Project, and Save the Children.

As National Coordinator, I am firmly committed to scaling community-led approaches, strengthening stakeholder capacity, fostering collaboration, and promoting sustainable, community-owned solutions, while also advocating for inclusive development policies. Guided by a strong vision, I remain dedicated to ensuring that communities are empowered as active leaders of their own development journeys, driving lasting and meaningful change across Malawi.

Aubrey shares: My introduction to MCLD Malawi in 2021 marked a significant transformation in my career, as I transitioned into a more participatory and community-centered development practitioner after becoming a certified CLD trainer. By applying CLD principles in projects such as the Integration of WASH and Nutrition initiative, I witnessed firsthand how meaningful community engagement fosters ownership, accountability, and long-term sustainability, as reflected in the continued success and maintenance of project outcomes. This experience strengthened my conviction that MCLD is a powerful and transformative development philosophy, not just a methodology.

Message from 2022 outgoing chair Arthur Nkosi

Dear MCLD members,

I would like to thank all of you for your support during my tenure as the Chairperson and Lead for the Malawi MCLD Chapter. It is with great pleasure that I introduce Sothin Zibah as the incoming Malawi Lead for the Chapter. I will now be moving on to focus on the growth of CorpsAfrica as we expand into two new countries, making a total of six countries we are operating in. Please feel free to follow us on our website www.corpsafrica.org.

Sothin has been very instrumental in the momentum we have gained as a chapter, there will be some exciting projects the Chapter will be working on that I know will be beneficial for all.

One gets out of MCLD what one puts in and I for one have enjoyed the COVID awareness campaigns we have run in the country including working with a fantastic deputy Gertrude. Please continue to stay connected with the Chapter to build on what your organizations have already started. It has been a great honor to serve.

Thank you all,

Kind regards,

Arthur Nkosi
