About MCLD Uganda
MCLD-Uganda was launched in 2017. We have 162 members across local and national civil society organizations, international NGOs, Government departments, Private sector agencies, Academia, Thought Leaders, and influencers spread across all regions of Uganda. Members meet quarterly to share their methodologies of integrating CLD approaches in their programs and activities.
Current Initiatives

MCLD Uganda is committed to promoting community-led development, capacity building, and evidence-based decision-making. We believe in working through partnerships and collaboration with government agencies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.
In 2024, MCLD Uganda signed an MoU with The Hunger Project for the Right2Grow project. The Association also made its mark in advocacy and partnerships, contributing to forums like the National Nutrition Forum, taking part in a dynamic Women in Leadership panel, and leading workshops on food systems and WASH.
Current goals of MCLD in Uganda include:
- Empowerment of communities with knowledge, skills, and resources to foster sustainability
- Facilitating connections and collaborations
- Systematic collection and dissemination of our research findings to foster continuous learning
- Advocacy for community-led development approaches

In the next four years, MCLD will contribute to the following priority areas:
- Strengthen the capacity of Community-Based Organizations to design and implement quality programs that respond to citizen needs.
- Build networks and partnership development for effective Resource Mobilization, Mutual Learning, Collaborations appreciating the power
of collaboration and the strength of collective action for mutual learning and knowledge exchange among communities, organizations, and stakeholders. - MCLD aspires to be a go-to knowledge hub. Invest in Research, Documentation, and Knowledge Management
- Advocate and Lobby for the Integration of Community-Led Development in development interventions.
