Recently, MCLD and the Taita Taveta County in Kenya unveiled the 2023 Joint Work Plan which is critical in the actualization of the five-year MoU signed in March 2023.The activities outlined in the plan are designed to support the county develop and implement projects that are more community-led.
“We are happy about this collaboration that will help the county to strengthen participatory development to ensure sustainability of our development projects,” says His Excellency Andrew Mwadime, the county’s Governor “We are particularly excited that through this partnership, MCLD will work with us to finalize on the Taita Taveta County Government Public Participation Policy,”
The work plan unveiling followed a two-day workshop where 34 county officials, including the Deputy Governor- Her Excellency Christine Kilalo, were trained on the Participatory CLD Assessment Tool. “This Tool is going to be very helpful in our work. It will help us become truly community-led across our initiatives,” says Christine.
The workshop was co-facilitated by Gunjan Veda, MCLD’s Director of Collaborative Research, Policy and Practice and Steve Ogutu, MCLD Kenya Executive Director.
Taaita Taveta is among five counties collaborating with MCLD to ensure devolution works for all.
