MCLD’s Approach
MCLD works through our National Associations to move beyond conventional, top-down development paradigms. We believe in a transformative model that places communities at the forefront of their own progress and addresses shortcomings in international development.
We spearhead campaigns and initiatives to influence policy, funding mechanisms, and development paradigms in favor of community-led approaches. We also work to equip communities with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to drive their development agendas independently.
MCLD’s Presence
MCLD has National Associations in various stages of formation in 25 countries:
- Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Togo, Uganda, Zambia
- Americas: Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, United States of America
- Asia: Pakistan, Nepal
Why These Countries?
MCLD is governed by our members. We are present in countries where a cohort of organizations and individuals has come together in line with our values and vision, with the motivation to launch a National Association.
